A Kodava wedding is one place you can taste authentic Coorg cuisine. Pork is the main non-vegetarian item eaten by the Coorgs. Called pandhi curry, it is prepared with a lot of masala, spices and tamarind. Other dishes you should try out are koli curry (chicken), yarchi (lamb) spiced with pepper, kokum, bamboo shoot, red chili, bembla curry (bamboo shoot), kadumbuttu, noolputu (steamed rice noodles), oti (rice roti). It is also a time when a lot of Coorgs from outside the district come together. It is the right occasion for tourists to get an idea of Kodava customs and traditions.
