Bandipur National Park Karnataka

This national park is part of the Project Tiger reserve and is part of the Nilgiri Biophere. Located in Chamarajanagar district in southern Karnataka, it is contiguous with Mudumalai National Park of Tamil Nadu, the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala, and the Nagarhole National Park. The best time to visit is during the monsoons, from June to September.

 

The main fauna consists of tigers, Asian elephants, leopards, dholes, gaur and sloth bears. The Bandipur Tiger Reserve was established in 1973 by carving out 880km² from the Wildlife Park. Bandipur National Park is located to the south of the Cauvery river and the highest point is 1454m. The Kabini (Cauvery), Nagur and Moyar rivers flow through the reserve.
