At the convergence of the rivers Cauvery, the underground Sujyothi and the Kanike, is the Bhangandeshwara temple. It certainly has a unique Kerala touch. The temple has a copper roof and has delicate carvings inside the temple. Because of the three rivers, it is also called Triveni Sangama. A dip here is supposed to revive sagging spirits. You need permission from the temple authorities for it, though.
Every October 17, on Tulasankranama, thousands come here to take a dip in its holy waters and pray. This area is known as Talacauvery, the origin of the Cauvery, one of the seven sacred rivers. The river flows through two states and the source s located at the top of the Brahmagiri hill. It is 1,535m above sea level. There are hourly buses from Madikeri, and the ride takes about an hour and a half to reach.
