The reservoir falls on one of the tributaries of the Cauvery river. It is very close to the Dubare forest reserve, only about a five-km jeep ride. It is a great place for nature walks and treks. The waters may be treacherous-be careful. The pastures nearby make for a great picnic. It is 45km from Madikeri and the nearest town is Nanjarayapattana.
