Built in 1877, this is one of India’s oldest museums. Its Corinthian columns stand out among the architectural wonders here. The museum has a collection of coins, paintings, sculptures, inscriptions and other items. The art gallery near the museum is named after late K. Venkatappa, a noted court artist of the ruling Wodeyar kings. You will find a selection of his famous paintings, Plaster of Paris works and wooden sculptures in it. There are a collection of works by contemporary artists, too.
