The walk up to Iruppu Falls is more like a hike. From the Rameshwarna temple at the base, you can begin walking up the rough trail. It is quite steep bu t a short one. Surrounded by the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary, Iruppu Falls is a stunning sight, especially during the monsoons. It originates from the Brahmagiri Range and falls 170ft in two levels. The waters are known locally as Lakshmana Theertha (Sacred River of Lakshmana). For those who would like to trek, take the trail to Brahmagiri Peak in southern Coorg. There are buses and taxis plying to and from the falls. Direct buses leave Madikeri every couple of hours. You could also catch a bus from Gonikoppal.
