Jog Falls Karnataka

It is the fifth-highest waterfall in Asia and certainly the highest in Karnataka. Located in Shimoga district, the best time to visit this beauty is after the Monsoons, from August to November. Bangalore is 270km away and Mangalore is 200km away, and has the nearest airport.The northwest-flowing Sharavathi River falls over a cliff at 829ft, called the Jog Falls. It is locally known as Jogada Gundi, and falls in four unique cascades-Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket.When the Linganamakki Dam upstream is opened, the waters gush out with even more force. When it isn’t, you can take a dip in the pool below. The power station at the dam was started in 1949.

 

Honnemaradu Wildlife Centre
It is located about 15km from Jog town. It is a hub for research , conservation studies and adventure.
